Jeju Special Self-Governing Province		 탄소중립 실현을 위한 분산에너지 확대 방안
Increasing Distributed Generation to Achieve Carbon Neutrality		 Crystal Hall A
“Net Zero Carbon” is on the way to becoming the global buzzword of the year. Jeju is a front runner in achieving carbon neutrality having adopted its Carbon Free Island 2030 Policy since 2012. As a result, renewables now account for 16.2% of Jeju’s total energy generation. This puts Jeju in phase 3 of IEA’s categorization of RE integration alongside leading countries in renewable energy.
As the shares of renewable and distributed generation increase, Jeju is beginning to face challenges such as curtailment and the imbalance between alternative and existing energy systems.
This session was designed based on the idea that these problems are not only limited to Jeju but are likely to affect the whole country and beyond. Speakers will discuss ways to respond to issues brought by increasing renewables, review the current status of Korea’s power system, and exchange ideas on adopting a free energy market.

올해 전 세계적으로 탄소중립(Net-Zero)이 최대 이슈로 부상하고 있으나 이미 제주도는 다른 지역들보다 앞서서 탄소 중립으로 나아가고 있다.
2012년부터 본격적으로 CFI2030(Carbon Free Island 2030)정책을 한 결과 10여년이 지난 현재 재생에너지의 발전량 비중은 전체 발전량의 16.2%로 증가하였으며, 이는 국제에너지기구(IEA)에 따르면 재생에너지 3단계로 재생에너지 선진국과 맞먹는 수준이다.
그러나 재생에너지가 증가함에 따라 재생에너지 출력제어 등의 문제도 나타나고 있으며, 재생에너지의 비중은 높아졌으나 기존의 에너지 시스템이 유지되고 있어 괴리가 발생하고 있기도 하다,
이 세션에서는 제주도내에서 발생하고 있는 신재생에너지의 출력제어 등의 문제가 향후 대한민국, 더 나아가서는 세계적인 문제가 된다는 것에 주목하며, 재생에너지 확대에 대응할 수 있는 방안에 대하여 논의할 예정이다.
또한, 현재 우리나라의 전력계통 운영현황 및 전력거래 자유화 도입을 위한 한계와 극복 방안에 대하여도 검토한다.
