김호민은 2011년부터 제주대학교 전기공학과 교수로 재직 중이다. 본래 제주 출신인 그는 2002년 2월 연세대학교에서 박사학위를 취득한 후, 미국 MIT에서 박사 후 과정을 수료하였다. 2004년에 LS산전(주) 전력연구소, 2006년부터 한국전기연구원에서 선임연구원으로 근무하였다. 그는 지난 20여년간 24kV급 저항형 초전도 사고전류 제한기, 5MW급 선박추진용 초전도 동기모터, 10MW급 풍력터빈용 초전도발전기 기술개발 사업을 수행하였고 현재 제주대학교에서 친환경 에너지 및 신소재 응용기술 관련 연구와 교육에 전념하고 있다.

Ho Min Kim has been a professor of Jeju National University in the department of electrical engineering since 2011. Originally from Jeju Island, he received a Ph.D. from Yonsei University in February 2002 and completed his postdoctoral course at MIT in the United States. In 2004, he worked as a senior researcher at LSIS Co., Ltd. and at the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute from 2006. Over the past 20 years, he worked on various projects including the development of 24kV-class resistive type SFCL, 5MW- class superconducting synchronous motor technology for ship propulsion, and 10MW-class superconducting generator for wind turbines. He is currently in charge of research and education on green energy and novel material application technologies at Jeju national university.
