Gender equality is the best investment which drives economic growth and sustainable development. The real background for the economic growth is due to gender equal labor markets-that women have the same rights and obligations as men in the workplace and take active part at the same level as men. Gender equality gives us a comparative advantage- as the most valuable asset in any country is the value of its people.
Increasing of women’s share in management positions is an important global issue for economic and social development.

Through the Jeju Forum, we aim to share the key questions and problems at stake, discuss successful cases and policies in different countries. The sessions will center around the following questions: How gender equality can influence firm’s productivity levels? What can be done to improve the share of women’s executives? What are the common challenges that women face? How did other countries overcome similar challenges?

성평등은 경제성장에 기여하고 지속가능한 개발을 위한 최고의 투자로 경제성장을 이루기 위하여 남녀 평등한 노동시장을 구축해야 함. 또한 여성은 직장에서 남성과 동일한 권리와 의무를 가지고, 남성과 동일하게 적극적으로 노동시장에 참여해야 하며, 경영에서의 성평등을 달성하기 위한 다양한 조치들이 필요함.
따라서 이번 제주포럼에서는 우리보다 먼저 이 문제를 경험하였고 대책방안을 마련하고 있는 노르웨이의 사례를 공유하고, 전문가의 진단을 통하여 해법 모색 및 사회적인 공감대를 형성하기 위한 다음과 같은 질문에 집중하고자 함. 성평등이 기업성장에 효과와 경영성장의 낮은 대표성 개선을 위한 실현가능한 조치들이 무엇이며, 현장의 어려움을 다른 나라들은 어떠한 도전들로 극복하였는지를 살펴보는 장이 될 것임.
