성효용 교수는 뉴욕주립대학교(State University of New York at Binghamton) 경제학 박사로 1999년부터 성신여자대학교 경제학과 교수로 재직하고 있다. 거시경제학, 경제정책론, 젠더경제학을 강의하고 있으며, 인적자본투자와 경제성장 관련 연구에 관심이 있다. 성신여자대학교 사회과학대학 학장과 한국여성경제학회 7대 & 8대 회장, 한국경제학회 이사를 역임했으며, 세계여성경제학회(International Association of Feminist Economics) 재무위원회 위원으로 활동하고 있다. 또한 세계여성이사협회 한국지부(Women Corporate Directors Korea) 창립멤버로 1기 이사(2016-2019)를 역임하였으며, 현재 감사를 맡고 있다. IBK 기업은행과 키움증권 사외이사, 우체국금융개발원 비상임이사를 역임하였으며, 기획재정부 민간투자사업심의위원회, 국토교통부 도시개발위원회, 기반시설관리위원회, 성인지예결산 전문평가위원회 등에서 위원으로 활동하고 있다

2012년에 “Challenges and Responses of Work-Family Balance Policies 일-가정 양립 정책의 도전과 과제” 주제로 국제학술대회를 주최하였으며, 2017년에는 “Gender Inequalities in a Multipolar World 다극화시대의 성 불평등”을 주제로 세계여성경제학회 26차 정기학술대회를 한국에서 개최하였다. 최근에는 한국사회의 성 평등에 대한 사회적 인식의 개선을 위해 다양성과 포용성을 주제로 연구하고 있다. 관련 논문으로는 “여성이사 할당제의 경제적 효과분석” (『여성경제연구』, 제17집 제2호, 2020)과 “Application of ESG Measures for Gender Diversity and Equality at the Organizational Level in a Korean Context” (The European Journal of Training and Development, 30 October 2020) 등이 있다.

Hyo-Yong Sung is a professor of economics at Sungshin women’s University. Since 1999 Sung has lectured and conducted research on feminism and economics, with a special interest in human capital investment and economic growth. Sung served as Dean of the College of Social Sciences at Sungshin University. She was President of the Korean Women Economic Association, and served as a member of the Board of the Korean Economic Association. Sung also served as a member of the board of directors at the Industrial Bank of Korea(IBK) and Kiwoom Securities Co., Ltd.

Sung is currently an auditor of Women Corporate Directors Korea and a member of the Finance Committee at the International Association of Feminist Economics(IAFFE). Sung raised gender issues within Korean society when she hosted the 2017 IAFFE Annual Conference, with the theme “Gender Inequalities in a Multipolar World.” Her current projects include diversity and inclusion with the aim of contributing to a change in Korean society’s perception of gender inequality. As well as works in Korean, she co-authored “Application of ESG Measures for Gender Diversity and Equality at the Organizational Level in a Korean Context” in The European Journal of Training and Development (30 October 2020).
