 헬스케어타운 힐링힐즈, 제주 생물자원에서 팬데믹의 돌파구를 모색하다
Healthcare Town Healing Hills Seeks a Breakthrough in the Pandemic from Jeju Biological Resources		 Charlotte
No fewer than 1,800 or half of the plant species found in Korea exist in Jeju due to its mild climate and having Hallasan, the highest mountain in Korea.
Jeju biological resources have attracted attention since the ancient times. Qin Shi Huang who craved for eternal life sent Xu Fu to find the elixir of life. Xu Fu came to Jeju to find the elixir and engraved on a rock that he passed by Jeju.
Securing biological resources is getting more important today. The Nagoya Protocol which came to an effect in 2014 aims to have fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the utilization of biological resources. They will also act as a major clue about the current pandemic. Jeju, where both subtropical and tropical plants can be grown, is one of the most promising places in the present situation.
In this session, we will examine a breakthrough for the pandemic in relation to Healthcare Town Healing Hills.

온난한 기후와 우리나라에서 가장 높은 산(한라산)의 영향으로, 우리나라에서 발견되는 식물종의 절반가량인 약 1,800종에 이르는 식물이 자생하는 제주.
천혜의 자연환경 덕분에 제주의 생물자원은 예로부터 주목받아 왔다. 서복(徐福)은 영생을 꿈꾼 진시황의 명을 받고 불로초를 찾기 위해 제주를 찾아 '서불과지'(徐?過之, 서복이 이곳을 지나갔다)라는 글을 남겼다.
오늘날에는 생물자원 확보가 더욱 강조되고 있다. 2014년 나고야 의정서가 발효함에 따라 생물자원 활용으로 발생한 이익에 대한 타당하고 공정한 공유가 의무화되었기 때문이다. 또한, 생물자원은 현재의 팬데믹 해결의 중요한 실마리가 될 전망이다. 이러한 상황에서 제주는 아열대는 물론 열대 생물자원 재배가 가능한 지역으로 그 중요성이 높아지고 있다.
이 세션에서는 헬스케어타운 힐링힐즈를 중심으로 팬데믹의 돌파구를 모색하고자 한다.
