[Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies 한국고등교육재단]<BR><BR>Uncertainties and unpredictability are mushrooming in Northeast Asia. China is preparing for the 19th Party Congress, which is expected to be followed by a milestone political reshuffle; President Trump is still struggling with an unfavorable political environment both domestically and internationally; and the ROK is in an unprecedented transitional period. Amid such uncertainties and challenges facing the three countries, the burgeoning nuclear threat posed by North Korea has become an alarming international security threat or a dangerous tail wagging the dog. Against this backdrop, the international community should eradicate any sense of impunity for the DPRK and prevent the regime from furthering its intension to become a nuclear weapons state. At this critical juncture, this Track II level session will elaborate on how the three countries can cope with North Korean nuclear issue and consolidate trilateral coordination toward achieving regional stability and denuclearization in parallel. <BR><BR>불확실성과 예측불가능성이 동북아를 뒤덮고 있다. 중국은 19차 당대회와 중차대한 권력 개편을 앞두고 있고, 트럼프 대통령은 취임 직후부터 미국 안팎의 비우호적인 정치 환경에 직면해 고전하고 있다. 한국 도 전례 없는 정치적 전환기를 맞고 있다. 한미중 3 국이 전환기에 놓인 틈을 이용해 북한은 핵 능력 고 도화에 더욱 속력을 낼 것이다. 따라서 국제사회의 단호하고 결집된 대응이 어느 때보다도 요긴한 시점 이다. 이번 한미중 3자 트랙 투 대화를 통해 북한 비핵화와 동북아 평화 달성을 위한 공동 인식과 대응 방안을 논의하고자 한다.
