 COVID-19 팬데믹 극복을 위한 도전과 기회: 백신의 ‘공평한 분배’에 관하여

In order to overcome the economic and societal crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, not only individual countries but also intranational community is making various efforts. Discussions are under way on the development and equitable allocation of vaccines.

Republic of Korea is, according to its 「Vaccine Strategy」endorsed by the cabinet meeting on September 15th, taking a multi-track approach, both through supporting domestic research and development, and participating in the international collaboration mechanism for vaccines.

In this context, Republic of Korea is participating in the COVAX Facility co-hosted by WHO, CEPI(Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations), and Gavi(The Vaccine Alliance) which aims to ensure “fair and equitable access” to COVID-19 vaccines for all countries.

Let us discuss the challenges and opportunities of cooperation for vaccines in the international community in terms of the COVAX Facility.

COVID-19 팬데믹으로 인한 경제?사회적 위기 극복을 위하여 개별 국가는 물론 국제사회 차원 다양한 노력을 기울이고 있는 가운데, COVID-19 백신에 대한 개발과 분배에 대한 관심과 논의가 한창이다.

우리 정부는 지난 9.15 국무회의시 논의된 COVID-19 백신 도입 계획에 따라 백신의 자체개발과 함께, 국제사회 협력을 통해 해외 개발 백신을 도입하는 다각적 전략을 추진중이다.

이러한 맥락에서, 우리 정부는 세계보건기구(WHO), 감염병혁신연합(CEPI), 세계백신면역 연합(Gavi)이 주도하여 국제사회 백신을 공평 하게 분배하고자 하는 COVAX Facility에 참여했다.

COVAX Facility를 중심으로 국제사회 백신을 위한 협력의 도전과 기회에 대해 논의해보고자 한다.
