Hyunsang Muk was nominated in August 2020 as the President of “National Project for development of COVID-19 vaccine and treatment, similar program like Operation Warp Speed in the USA. He is also the President of Korea Drug Development Fund since 2016. KDDF is a government agency which provides R&D grant and scientific support to Academia and pharmaceutical companies to develop innovative new drugs. During last 9 years, 162 projects have had R&D grant. These 162 projects embrace all the major successful drug development projects in Korea.

Hyunsang Muk has spent most of his time and energy building a bridge between the science community and the pharmaceutical industry while also creating a strong and robust global network to collaborate in the development of innovative new drugs. He also has played an active role in public services; as director of Korea BIO association, member of National Academy of Engineering Korea, and adjunct professor of Yonsei University.

묵현상 단장은 2020년 8월 “코로나-19 백신·치료제 신약개발사업단” 단장으로 임명되었다. 이 사업단은 미국의 초광속작전(Operation Warp Speed)과 같은 목적으로 설립된 기관이다. 또한 묵 단장은 (재)범부처신약개발사업단의 단장으로 재직하고 있다. 범부처신약개발사업단(KDDF)은 대학 및 제약회사의 신약개발을 지원하기 위하여 정부가 출자하여 R&D자금을 지원하는 역할을 하는 기관이다. KDDF는 지난 9년간 162개의 프로젝트에 R&D자금과 기술 지원을 하였으며 이들 162개 과제는 대한민국에서 개발되고 있는 성공적인 신약개발 과제 대부분을 아우르고 있다.
