[World Federation of the United Nations Associations (WFUNA) 유엔협회 세계연맹]<BR><BR>Today’s international order is undergoing significant changes. Look at new US administration’s ‘America First’ isolationist policy, rising China’s greater assertiveness and intensifying competition among major powers, Russia’s revanchist politics, Japan’s history revisionism, Brexit, emerging new nationalism and, above all, eroding commitment to a rules-based international order and multilateralism. All these changes present us with hyper uncertainties and multidimensional challenges. This symposium will analyze the characteristics of the current international order and discuss new challenges they impose on the international peace in Asia and the common interests of humanity. Focusing on major issues drawing much international attention particularly in East Asia, it aims to identify desirable approaches to international peace to effectively address the challenges facing the world includ¬ing through reinvigorated United Nations’ efforts and multilateralism. <BR><BR>오늘날의 국제질서는 중요한 변화를 겪고 있다. 미 행정부의 ‘아메리카 퍼스트’ 고립주의 정책, 부상하는 중국의 공세적 적극성과 강대국 간 경쟁관계 심 화, 러시아의 과거 위상 회복정책, 일본의 역사수정주의, 브렉시트, 신 민족주의 그리고 무엇보다도 규 범 기반의 국제질서와 다자주의 외교에 대한 믿음이 후퇴하는 현상 등이 이를 잘 보여준다. 이 모든 변화 는 우리에게 엄청난 불확실성과 도전을 안겨 주고 있다. 이 심포지움은 현 국제질서의 특성을 분석하고, 이러한 국제질서의 변화가 인류의 공통적인 이익과 특히 아시아 지역의 평화에 안겨 주는 새로운 도전 과 위협들을 어떻게 효과적으로 해결해 나갈 수 있는지 알아보고, 특히 유엔의 역할과 다자주의의 활 성화 등을 포함하여 바람직한 세계평화 접근 방법이 무엇인지에 관해 살펴보고자 한다.
