The East Asian order is undergoing phenomenal changes. These have significant implications at the regional and international levels, as well as posing unprecedented challenges to East Asia. A key mission of the United Nations (UN) is to maintain peace and security. The UN is also making efforts to uphold human dignity by promoting sustainable development and safeguarding democracy and human rights.
The participants in this session will examine the characteristics of East Asia and the challenges it faces, and hold an in-depth discussion on the role the UN has to assume in strengthening peace and security in the region, and contributing to enhancing the quality of life.

동아시아 질서는 현재 엄청난 변화를 겪고 있다. 이 변화들은 지역적으로, 또 세계적 차원으로도 매우 중요한 함의를 띠며 동아시아 지역에 유래 없는 도전을 안겨주고 있다. 유엔의 주 임무는 세계평화와 안전의 유지이다. 또한 유엔은 지속가능한 개발을 촉진하고 민주주의와 인권의 존중을 통해 인간의 존엄을 지켜나가기 위해 노력하고 있다.
이 세션에서 참가자들은 오늘날 동아시아 지역 질서의 특성과 도전 과제들을 검토하고 유엔이 이 지역에서 평화와 안전을 강화하고 보다 존중 받는 인간 삶의 향상에 기여하기 위해 어떠한 역할을 해 나가야 할지 심층 토론한다.
