역내 전략적 사고에 있어 급격한 변화가 일어나고 있다. 아시아-태평양에서 인도-태평양으로의 전환이다. 미국, 일본, 한국 등 역내 주요국들 사이에서 널리 채택되고 있는 이러한 전략적 사고 방식에 아세안 국가들 또한 그들만의 비전을 담아내고 있다. 이러한 배경 하에, 본 세션에서는 다음의 주제들을 다루어 보고자 한다. 인도-태평양 전략, 특히 미국 주도의 번영을 위한 인도-태평양 경제프레임워크(IPEF)을 아세안 인도-태평양 관점(AOIP)과 연계해볼 때 아세안 회원국들은 인태 전략을 어떻게 인식하고 있고 어떻게 대응하고자 하는가? IPEF는 수용 가능한 것이고 합당한 것인가? 인태 전략을 두고 아세안 회원국들 간의 일치와 분열의 양상은 없는가? 인도-태평양 담론에서의 아시아-태평양의 실종에 대해 어떻게 생각하는가? 한국은 아세안의 인태 전략 움직임을 어떻게 인식하고 해석하고 있는가? 인도-태평양과 아시아-태평양의 개념적 조화를 가능하게 할 방안은 있는가?

There has been an abrupt change in regional strategic thinking from the Asia-Pacific to the Indo-Pacific, the idea being broadly adopted by the major players in the region including the U.S., Japan, South Korea, and particularly the ASEAN in their own vision. Against this backdrop, this session will be addressing the following topics: What are the perception and responses of ASEAN members to the Indo-Pacific strategy, especially the U.S.-led Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity in line with the ASEAN Outlook on Indo-Pacific(AOIP)? Is the IPEF acceptable and justifiable? Aren’t there any patterns of unity and division among ASEAN members over its Indo-Pacific strategy? What is your take on the disappearance of Asia-Pacific in the discourses on Indo-Pacific? What is a South Korean perception and interpretation of ASEAN moves on the Indo-Pacific strategy? Are there any options to harmonize Indo-Pacific and Asia-Pacific concepts?
