[Jeju Free International City Development Center / National Promotion Committee for Restoring Hanon Crater]<BR>[제주국제자유도시개발센터 / 하논마르분화구복원범국민추진위원회]<BR><BR>Hanon-Maar, the largest and the only Maar in the Korean Peninsula, has been neglected in damaged state for long and whose value has not been recognized. Moreover, recently it is facing the danger of thought-less development as well. Despite of the overwhelming percentage of approval (99.7%) for Hanon-Maar restoration and preservation at the World Conservation Congress (WCC) 2012 and consecutive recommen-dation from the congress being given to Korean government for conduct of restoration project, past governments and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province has not been taking a step forward. Therefore, this forum for discussion is arranged so as to suggest Hanon-Maar as a significant national policy project with its value keeping the secret of ancient organism and paleoclimate for fifty thousand years and its appropri-ateness setting an international standard for restoration of natural environment.<BR><BR>한반도 최대 규모이자 유일한 마르분화구인 하논분화구는 시대 변화를 겪으면서 원형이 훼손된 상태로 장기간 방치된 채 그 가치를 인정받지 못했으며, 근래 들어서는 난개발의 위험에까지 노출되어 있다. 2012년 세계자연보전총회(WCC)에서 하논분화구 의 복원·보전 의제가 압도적인 찬성(99.7%)으로 채택되어 대한민국 정부에 복원사업을 시행하도록 권 고하였는데도 지난 정부와 제주특별자치도는 적극 적인 후속조치를 취하지 않고 있다. 이에 5만 년 동 안 고생물·고기후의 비밀을 간직한 하논분화구의 가치와 국제적인 자연환경 복원의 표준모델을 수립 하는 하논분화구 복원의 당위성을 국가 중요정책과 제로 제시하기 위한 공론의 장을 마련한다.
