[Youth Session 5] Beyond the Nest: The Youth’s Housing and Pursuing the Better Direction		 Grand Ballroom
This session is to discuss about the current housing problems within the South Korean youths and to provide a new solution to the crisis. Today, the majority of the youths are experiencing higher anxieties from youth unemployment, the stagnation of average income and the bleak possibility of “owning your house". Thus, the number of youth staying with their parents has been continuously increasing regardless of their will. Although the government has passed several bills regarding the situation, in reality, the dream of home ownership has been faded away from Korean youths and they are still living in a poor housing condition.
In this session, the youth, as the main agents of resolving youth’s housing problem, will point out the limitations of current housing policy. In addition, experts from various fields will be invited to present the proper direction of future housing policy and look for a solution. Furthermore, in the session would like to stress out the need to raise awareness that the young people themselves should actively move toward to breakthrough in a social structural in which possessing their house is conceded “impossible”

'청년이 주'팀은 대한민국 청년의 주거 실태를 알리고 청년 주거권 보장을 위한 새로운 대안을 모색하고자 한다. 오늘날 청년 세대는 청년실업, 저임금 노동시장 등의 현실에 '내 집 마련' 대신 부모로부터 독립하지 못한 '비'자발적 캥거루족이 되어가고 있다. 이에 정부가 내놓은 수많은 주거정책에도 현실 속 많은 청년들은 여전히 열악한 주거 공간을 임대로 거주하며 '내 집 마련'의 꿈과 멀어지고 있다.

본 세션에서는 청년들이 직접 청년 주거 문제 해결의 주체가 되어, 현 주거 정책의 한계를 짚어내고자 한다. 더불어 각 분야의 전문가들을 초청하여 미래 주거 정책의 방향성을 제시하는 등 해결방안을 모색할 예정이다. 나아가 '내 집 마련'의 어려움이 불가능처럼 굳어져버린 사회적 구조에서 끊임없이 청년이 주체가 되어 청년 주거 문제 해결을 향해 나아가야 한다는 인식제고의 필요성 또한 강조하고자 한다.
