Recently, the world is facing an era of great revolution by the Covid 19. The cities of the world are working to find the way to overcome the crisis of the phendemic. Especially, ESG is standing out as a core competition factor in management of cities and companies in recent. Jeju also need to change to face the new era.

In the past, Jeju has been advocating a international city with a focus to a city that is free to do business, goods and capital as well as people can freely move around. However, now it is necesarry to prepare a future to develop into an international city through sustainable growth based on society and environment as well as the economy.

In this session, we will discuss how we should grow around the environment, society, international exchange strategies, and will specify ways for Jeju’s prosperity as a international city.

최근 세계는 팬데믹으로 인한 대변혁의 시대를 맞이하고 있으며 세계의 도시들은 급격한 변화 속에서 미래에 대응하기 위한 다양한 방안들을 강구하고 있다. 특히 최근에는 ESG가 기업 및 도시의 주요 경쟁 요소로 부각되는 등 과거와는 다른 환경에 직면해있다. 제주 역시 국제도시로서 시대에 부응한 변화가 요구되고 있다.

제주는 과거 사람·상품·자본의 자유로운 이동에 중점을 둔 국제자유도시를 표방해 왔다. 하지만 경제뿐 아니라 사회·환경 기반의 지속가능한 성장을 통해 국제도시로서 발전하기 위한 미래상 마련이 필요하다.

이번 세션에서는 지속 성장이 가능한 제주국제자유도시의 미래를 위한 친환경(에너지), 사회적 책임 및 국제도시로서의 국제교류 전략 등에 대해 고민하고 향후 환경 교류의 거점으로서 제주국제자유도시의 번영을 위한 방법을 구체화하고자 한다.
