오늘날 세계는 팬데믹의 여파, 경제 대변동, 기상이변, 사회와 기술의 급격한 변화에 따라 동요하고 있는 복합위기의 시대이다. 특히 미중 전략경쟁의 심화와 러시아-우크라이나 전쟁 이후 아시아 등 다른 지역 내 분쟁 위험 또한 고조되고 있다. 이러한 지정학적 경쟁과 갈등 속에서 다자 및 소다자 동맹과 양자동맹을 중심으로 대응에 나서면서 긴장이 더 고조되고 있는 지금, 지속가능한 평화증진을 위하여 도시 및 지방정부 차원에서의 역할과 기능을 논의한다.
그동안 유럽의 평화도시 중심의 ‘글로벌 평화도시 연대’에 대한 관점을 환태평양지역으로 확장하기 위하여 제주를 중심으로 글로벌 평화도시 연대가 샌디에고에 소재한‘환태평양평화소공원 도시협의체: 일란라엘 재단’및‘노벨평화상수상자 월드서밋 사무국’과 협력체계를 구축하고 기관 간의 논의로 평화를 주제로 한 국제협의체로서의 기능과 비전을 다룬다.

Today's world is an era of polycrisis, such as the pandemic, economic recession, climate crisis, rapid changes in society and technology. In particular, the risk of conflict in Asia and other regions is also increasing after the deepening U.S.-China strategic competition and the Russia-Ukraine war. Amid these geopolitical competitions and conflicts, the role and function of city and local governments level are discussed in order to promote sustainable peace at a time when tensions are increasing as they focus on multilateral alliances and bilateral alliances.
In order to expand the perspective of "Global Peace City Solidarity" centered on European peace cities to the Pacific Rim, Global Peace City Solidarity will establish a cooperative system with “PRP: Pacific Rim Park Ilan-Iael Foundation" and the "WSNPL: World Summit of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate) and discuss the agenda on the sustainable peace.
