남북분단 이후 70년이 넘도록 민족의 염원인 통일은 여전히 미완의 과제로 남아있다. 한국 정부는 자유민주 기본질서에 입각한 평화통일 기반 마련을 위해 통일비전외교를 추진 중이다. 한편, 국제사회 일각에서는 한반도 통일이 지구상에서 가장 위험한 갈등 요소인 북핵 문제와 북한 인권문제의 궁극적 해결책이라는 주장도 제기되고 있다.

이러한 상황에서 본 세션은 한·미·중 전문가들과 함께 한반도의 지속가능한 평화와 통일 비전에 대한 이들 3국의 인식을 논해본다. 그리고 통일의 국제적 기반 조성을 위한 통일비전외교 추진 방향을 모색해본다.

Reunification of the Korean Peninsula, a long-standing desire of the Korean people, remains an unsolved issue even after more than 70 years since the division of the two Koreas. The ROK government is pursuing the Unification Vision Diplomacy based on the principles of a free democracy in order to build a foundation for peaceful reunification. Meanwhile, some in the international community are suggesting that reunification of the Korean Peninsula is the ultimate solution to the most dangerous source of conflict on earth, the North Korean nuclear issue and the North Korean human rights issue.

Against this backdrop, this session discusses the perspectives of Seoul, Washington and Beijing on the vision for sustainable peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula with experts from Korea, the US, and China. They will also discuss the Unification Vision Diplomacy, which aims to create an international foundation for reunification.
