[ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs / US Department of State 외교부/미국 국무부] This session is designed as a “1.5 Track Round Table on the ROK-US Energy Cooperation,” held back-to-back with the 6th ROK-US Energy Security Dialogue between the ROK Foreign Ministry and the US State Department. The objectives of the discussion in this session is twofold: setting a new energy security agenda according to the change of energy geopolitics and arranging a comprehensive ROK-US Energy Cooperation, including prospects of cooperation by energy sources. The ROK-US cooperation in the energy sector is important not only in strengthening the bilateral relationship but also in enhancing the regional energy security by promoting “rule-based, fair, transparent energy transactions,” a reason why the two countries must expand the bilateral dialogues to explore possibilities of further cooperation in the energy sector. 이 세션은 제6차 한-미 에너지안보 대화와 연계하여 국무부 관계자 외에 에너지 분야 민간 전문가도 참석 하는 「1.5 track 한-미 에너지 협력 라운드테이블」로서 한-미 에너지 분야 협력 관련 ▲에너지 지정학의 변화 에 의한 새로운 에너지 안보 의제 및 ▲에너지 분야 포 괄적 협력 방안(에너지원별 협력 유망 분야 등)에 대해 민간 전문가와 토의하고 숙고해보는 기회를 갖는 것 을 목적으로 한다. 한-미간 에너지 분야 협력은 양국 관계 측면에서뿐 아니라 지역적 차원에서 “규범에 기 반한 공정하고 투명한 에너지 교역” 확대를 통한 에너 지 안보 제고에도 기여할 수 있다는 점에서, 향후 협력 방안을 지속적으로 모색해 나갈 대화의 필요성을 반 영한다.
