[Korea National Diplomatic Academy 국립외교원] What are the geoeconomic implications of the notion of the “Indo-Pacific” region, recently advanced and promoted by the United States? This session will discuss the possibilities for concretization and expansion of the economic cooperation in the region ranging from the Pacific Ocean to the Persian Gulf, as actively encouraged by the US and Japan within the framework of the “Indo-Pacific Strategy.” In particular, geoeconomic implications of the economic interests and diplomatic leverage in security relations that the Indo-Pacific initiative may offer to potential participants in their pursuit of common strategic goals will be explored in detail. 최근 미국이 새로 제시하고 있는 인도-태평양 지역의 개념이 내포하는 지경학적 함의는 무엇인가? 미국과 일본이 주도적으로 추진하고 있는 인도-태평양 전략을 토대로 태평양에서 페르시아만에 이르는 지역 내 경제적 협력 공간의 구체화 및 확대 가능성을 모색해본다. 특히, 동 구상에 잠재적으로 참여할 여지가 있는 국가들 간 공동의 전략적 목표를 추진해 나가는 데 있어 인도-태평양 구상의 경제적 이해와 더불어 외교안보적 영향력이 갖는 지경학적 함의에 대해 살펴본다.
