The 6th Jeju Forum evaluated the challenges and opportunities the rise of China and the reunification of the Korean peninsula will offer. The Forum also took note of the great potential of new growth on the basis of the Asian entrepreneurship. With this background, various programs on Korea-China economic cooperation are prepared. The contents of new standard and its perspectives were reviewed. New growth potential, creative industry, new leadership, the future of education and the role of women were also addressed. Peace and common prosperity on the Korean peninsula and East Asia through the promotion of mutual understanding was discussed. The cultural exchanges and fusion in East Asia was reviewed and we evaluated how it is promoting the sense of community among the Asian peoples. Various issues of peace in East Asia such as the resolution of the North Korean nuclear problem, historical reconciliation and maritime security are among the topics. The recent natural disaster of Japan was reviewed and among the related topics are how to deal with the climate change and natural disasters.

Today, women recognize themselves as key actors in the cultural mainstream and carry out cultural activities to their hearts’content, while enjoying their everyday lives. In this connection, it should be pointed out that in Asia cultural exchanges changes should be made so as to enable women to create their life styles more freely and diversely. This session will discuss the creative activities of women in the cultural industry and ways of exchange and collaboration in the film, fine arts and fashion sectors, which are shaping a new Asian culture centered on women’s creativity and productivity. Experts will also discuss ways of helping women to further their creativity and abilities. Participants will also have an opportunity to listen to interesting stories about the women’s liberation movement from Gloria Steinem, a principal actor in that movement, who was included in the list of the 100 Most Important Women of the 20th Century selected by ABC-TV. 여성의 감성과 소통, 나눔과 관계, 그리고 창조성은 지식 창조의 시대에 가치 있는 문화 콘텐츠를 생산하는 중요한 요소입니다. 그러므로 오늘날의 여성들은 자신의 일상을 돌아보는 가운데 스스로가 문화의 주체자임을 인식하고 활발하게 문화적 소양들을 펼쳐 나가고 있습니다. 하지만 아시아에서는 여성들이 보다 새롭고 다양한 스타일의 삶을 마음껏 디자인하고 자유롭게 구현해 나갈 수 있는 사회적 인식의 변화가 요구됩니다. 따라서 여기에서는 문화 산업 내에서 구현되는 여성들의 창조활동들에 대해 토론하고, 여성의 창조성과 생산성을 중심으로 새로운 아시아 문화를 형성하는 영화, 미술, 패션 산업 영역에서의 교류와 협력 방안들을 논의하게됩니다. 동시에 여성의 창조성과 역량을 다방면으로 증폭시킬 수 있는 방법을 다양한 경험의 전문가들이 모여서 다각도로 모색해 봅니다. 더불어 여성들의 적극적인 활동을 통해 창조적인 문화자원을 발굴하고 여성의 문화적인 잠재력과 가능성을 풀어내는 무대를 연출해 봅니다. 특히 ABC방송이 선정한‘20세기를 빛낸 여성 100인’중 한 사람이자 아름다운 선동가로 알려진 글로리아 스타이넘의 여성해방 운동사를 스토리로 풀어서 흥미진진하게 들어볼 수 있습니다.
