제주돌담이 지니는 깊은 문화적, 사회적 가치는 현대 사회에 많은 교훈을 준다. 이는 단순한 물리적 경계의 역할, 즉, '나'와 '남' 사이의 구분을 넘어서서 서로 존중하고 배려하는 공동체 의식과 지속가능한 생활 방식을 영위할 수 있는 중요한 매개체 역할을 수행해 오고 있다. 공동체 구성원 간의 상호 협력을 통해 문제를 함께 해결하고, 연대감을 높이며, 사회적 소외감을 줄이는 역할을 하고 있다. 이는 현대 사회에서 중요한 가치를 제공하고 있는데 제주돌담이 지닌 공동체 의식의 재조명과 강화를 통해 사회적 연결고리를 튼튼히 하고, 보다 포용적이고 협력적인 사회를 구현하는 데 다음과 같이 중요한 역할을 하고자 한다.
첫째, 돌담은 서로 다른 돌이 조화롭게 어우러져 만들어지는데 이는 평화와 조화를 상징하는 메타포로 해석할 수 있다. 평화와 조화의 상징이자 제주의 오랜 역사와 전통이 반영된 제주돌담의 가치를 널리 알리고, 이를 보존하고 발전시키고자 한다.
둘째, 국가별 다양한 돌담문화 간의 이해와 존중을 촉진함으로써 ‘돌담문화’가 중심이 된 문화 교류와 상호 이해를 증진시키고자 한다.
셋째, ‘평화의 섬’ 제주의 대표적인 평화의 상징물 중 한가지인 돌담을 통해 지속가능한 평화적 가치를 강조하고 세계 평화형성 방안에 대해 논의하고자 한다."

The deep cultural and social values held by Jeju's stone walls provide significant lessons for modern society. These walls go beyond serving as mere physical boundaries that separate 'me' from 'others.' Instead, they have played a crucial role as mediators that foster a sense of community, respect, and consideration, as well as a sustainable way of living. Through mutual cooperation among community members to solve problems, enhance solidarity, and reduce social isolation, these stone walls offer important values to contemporary society. They aim to strengthen social bonds and foster a more inclusive and cooperative society by revisiting and reinforcing the sense of community inherent in Jeju stone walls.
Firstly, the stone walls, made of harmoniously combined different stones, can be interpreted as a metaphor for peace and harmony. As symbols of peace and harmony that reflect Jeju's long history and traditions, the value of Jeju stone walls is widely recognized, with efforts aimed at their preservation and development.
Secondly, by promoting understanding and respect among various national stone wall cultures, there's an aim to enhance cultural exchanges and mutual understanding centered around ‘stone wall culture.’
Thirdly, as one of the representative symbols of peace on the ‘Island of Peace,’ Jeju, the stone walls emphasize sustainable peaceful values and discuss ways to form world peace. These initiatives highlight the importance of Jeju stone walls in building a stronger, more connected, inclusive, and cooperative society, underscoring the profound cultural and social values they represent in modern society.
