지속되는 우크라이나 전쟁 및 이스라엘-하마스 무력 분쟁 등 2023년은 전 세계적인 안보 위기의 해로 평가되고 있다. 이에 대응하여 국제사회는 평화를 위한 다양한 노력을 기울이고 있는데, 특히 2024년 다포스포럼은 ‘신뢰재건’을 주제로 부서진 세계에서의 안보 및 협력을 구축할 것과 경제 및 산업, 환경 등 다양한 분야에서 인공지능(AI) 활용하는 방안에 주목했다. 이러한 맥락에서 최근 유엔의 AI를 활용한 갈등 조정 노력 및 AI 기술을 통한 분쟁 예측 등 국제사회의 평화구축을 위한 AI 기술의 적용이 새로운 분야로 떠오르고 있으므로, 아태지역을 선도하는 국제적인 제주포럼에서 시대의 요구에 맞는 혁신적인 지식을 공유하고 논의하는 장을 마련하고자 한다.

In 2023, amidst global security challenges such as the enduring Ukraine War and the Israel-Hamas conflict, the international community is intensifying efforts for peace. The upcoming 2024 Davos Forum, themed ‘Rebuilding Trust,’ aims to address security and collaboration in a fractured world. It also spotlights the strategic application of artificial intelligence (AI) across diverse sectors, including economy, industry, the environment, etc., to fortify global security and cooperation. Recent UN initiatives employing AI for conflict resolution and predicting conflicts with AI technology underscore emerging areas of interest. The Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity, a leader in the Asia-Pacific region, holds significant importance as it endeavors to provide an international platform for sharing and discussing innovative knowledge that responds to the contemporary demands of our era.
