국가 간, 지역 간 대립은 심화되고 지역 간 정치적, 경제적 갈등이 고조되면서 그 어느 때보다 도시/지역 간 협력과 연대는 중요해지고 있다. 도시 간 교류협력을 강화하고 국가 간 대립을 완화시켜 외교 관계도 개선 시킬 수 있다는 점에서 의의를 찾고자 체결된 글로벌평화도시연대(제주-오스나브뤼크-베르됭-오키나와)는 핵심 이슈 개발을 위한 과제를 안고 있다. 아직은 네트워크 차원의 도시 간 연대를 핵심 아젠다 개발을 통해 향후 연대를 넘어 평화를 대표하는 상설 기구로서의 국제협의체 기능을 갖추기 위한 비전을 논의한다.

As confrontation between countries and regions intensifies and political and economic conflicts between regions escalate, cooperation and solidarity between cities and regions are becoming more important than ever. The Global Peace Cities Solidarity(Jeju-Osnabrück-Verdun-Okinawa), signed to find significance in that it can improve diplomatic relations by strengthening exchanges and cooperation between cities and easing confrontations between countries, has a task for the development of main issues. The vision for building an international cooperation body representative PEACE agenda in the global society beyond the simple solidarity is shared and discussed.
