평화문화는 지속가능한 사회를 구축하고 인간의 복지를 증진하며 인권을 강화하기 위해 필수적이다. 평화문화를 확산하기 위해서는 중앙정부 뿐 아니라 지방정부, NGO, 언론, 학계, 개인 등 모든 이들의 참여가 필요하다. 본 세션에서는 평화문화 확산을 위한 지방정부와 다양한 주체들의 역할을 논의하고, 특히 제주가 평화문화 확산의 일환으로 추진하고 있는4·3기록물의 유네스코 세계기록유산 등재의 의미와 영향력을 살펴보고자 한다.

The culture of peace is essential for building sustainable societies, promoting human well-being, and enhancing human rights. Sub-national actors, such as provincial governments, NGOs, the media, academics, and committed individuals, play a crucial role in promoting the culture of peace. In this session, we will explore the role of sub-national actors in promoting the culture of peace and showcase best practices from Jeju. In particular, we will examine how Jeju has been spreading the culture of peace through its efforts to inscribe the Archives of Jeju 4·3 on UNESCO's Memory of the World Register.
