2015년 제70차 UN총회에서 2030년까지 지속가능발전의 이념을 실현하기 위한 인류 공동의 17개 목표를 달성하기로 결의했다. 이 결의안에는 ‘단 한사람도 소외되지 않는 것(Leave no one behind)’라는 슬로건과 인간, 지구, 번영, 평화, 파트너십이라는 5개 영역에서 인류가 나아가야 할 지속가능발전목표 17개를 제시한다.
우리나라는 ‘22년 7월 지속가능발전 기본법을 제정하였다. 이 법은 경제·사회·환경의 균형과 조화를 통하여 현재 세대는 물론 미래세대가 보다 나은 삶을 누릴 수 있도록 하고 국가와 지방이 인류사회의 지속가능발전을 실현하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 제주도는 관련 조례를 공포하였고, 지속가능발전 기본전략을 수립할 예정이다.
청년은 현재 세대와 미래 세대를 잇는 연결고리이며, 지속가능발전의 가장 큰 이해관계자로 지속가능한 미래를 만들기 위해서는 청년의 역할은 중요하다. 지속가능한 미래를 위해 청년이 말하고, 그 목소리를 귀 기울여 들음으로써 제주의, 한반도의, 인류의 지속가능한 평화와 번영 방안에 대해 모색해보고자 한다.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet with 17 sustainable development goals, now and into the future.
In July 2022, South Korea enacted the Basic Act on Sustainable Development. The law aims to achieve sustainable development by harmonizing and balancing the economic, social, and environmental aspects so that the present and future generations can have a better quality of life and for the state and localities to realize the sustainable development of society. Jeju island has announced relevant ordinances and will establish the basic plan for sustainable development.
Young people are the link between the present and future generations and the most significant stakeholders in sustainable development. Thus, the role of young people is essential to make a sustainable future. Through this forum, we would like to explore plans for sustainable peace and prosperity of Jeju, South Korea, and humanity by listening to the youth.
