[Korea National Diplomatic Academy 국립외교원] Nationalism was a critical driving force of world history in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which turns out to be not only constructive but also destructive by causing many political troubles. Yet, a new tide of nationalism is rising again today, which can disrupt the sound development of Korea-China-Japan relations. Indeed, even if nationalism is a historical construction, emboldened nationalism can suffocate the three countries’ relations with only limited breathing room. Obviously, in order to enhance regional stability, Korea, China, and Japan need to develop resilient relations beyond nationalism. In this context, we would like to have a session to discuss how we can understand the nature of re-emerging nationalism in the region and how we can contain the related risks. 민족주의는 19세기 말, 20세기 초 세계역사의 흐름을 지배해온 사조이지만 이후 역사적 경험을 통해 그 한 계점이 드러나게 되었다. 하지만 최근 국제정세에서 다시 민족주의 경향이 대두되고 있는데 이는 한·중· 일 3국관계의 지속적인 발전에 장애요인으로 작용하 고 있다. 지역 불안정성 해소를 위한 주변국과의 협 력 필요성이 증대되고 있는 상황에서 한·중·일 3국은 민족주의를 넘어 회복 탄력적 관계를 발전시켜야 할 필요가 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 3국의 전문가들이 모 여 동북아 지역의 민족주의 문제를 객관적인 입장에 서 점검하고 토의하는 자리를 마련하고자 한다. 본 회 의를 통해 민족주의 재부상의 흐름과 그 위험성에 대 한 이해를 제고함으로써 한·중·일 간 회복 탄력적 관 계형성 가능성과 3국간 협력 방안에 대해 모색해볼 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
