[Jeju Peace Institute / The Korean Society of Contemporary European Studies 제주평화연구원/한국유럽학회] This session will explore the possibility of transforming the bilateral peace process between North Korea and the U.S. into a multilateral one involving all of Northeast Asia in the wake of their leaders’ summits in 2018 and 2019. Now that Sweden has already invited the six countries that took part in the Six-Party Talks to a dialogue on peace, noting the possibility of reopening the now defunct talks, it is highly likely that an international effort might be made soon to resume discussions on multilateral cooperation in Northeast Asia. At this point, the South Korean government needs to take the initiative for such cooperation by restoring the “Jeju Peace Process” that encompasses the Six-Party Talks, the EU and ASEAN. 이 세션에서는 2018-19년 북미 정상회담 이후, 북미 양자간 진행된 한반도 평화프로세스의 다자간 동북아 평화프로세스의 전환 가능성을 모색하고자 한다. 스웨 덴은 이미 6자회담의 재개 가능성을 염두에 두고 6개 국을 초청한 상황이어서 조만간에 동북아 다자협력을 위한 국제적 시도가 이루어질 가능성이 높다. 이러한 시점에서 우리 정부는 6자회담국과 EU, ASEAN 등을 포괄하는 제주프로세스를 복원함으로써 동북아 다자 협력의 주도권을 확보할 필요가 있다.
