최근 홍해와 대만해협의 평화와 안정이 위협받으면서 자유로운 항해를 위한 협력이 국제사회의 화두로 떠오르고 있다. 홍해에서는 이스라엘-하마스 전쟁 발발 후 후티 반군이 수에즈 운하의 통항을 막으면서 글로벌 공급망의 안정성을 심각하게 훼손하고 있다. 대만해협에서는 미중간, 양안간 긴장과 갈등이 지속되어 왔다. 특히 지난 1월 총통선거 이후 긴장이 고조되는 모양새다. 이러한 항해의 불안정성은 지정학적 위기와 글로벌 공급망에 대한 우려를 증폭시키고 있다. 이 세션에서는 한국, 미국, 영국의 해양안보 전문가들과 함께 자유로운 항해의 중요성과 이를 위한 협력 방안에 대해 논의하고자 한다.

With recent threats to peace and stability in the Red Sea and the Taiwan Strait, cooperation for the freedom of navigation has become a hot topic in the international community. In the Red Sea, after the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war, Houthi rebels blocked the passage of the Suez Canal, damaging the stability of the global supply chain. Similarly, escalated U.S.-China and Taiwan-China tensions in the Taiwan Strait are persisting, especially following Taiwan’s presidential election in January, exacerbating concerns regarding geopolitical volatility and global supply chain instability. This session will discuss the importance of freedom of navigation and identify areas of cooperation with maritime security experts from South Korea, the U.S., and the United Kingdom.
