전세계는 기후변화의 광풍 속에서 탄소중립을 실천함과 동시에 경제성장을 지속해야 하는 이중의 과제에 직면해 있다. 유엔과 각 정부 차원의 NDC 목표와 별도로, RE100 등 민간 기업 차원에서 탄소중립을 실현하려는 각종 규제가 국제 규범으로 강화되고 있다. 아직 보조적인 수단이기는 하지만 자발적 탄소시장을 활성화하기 위한 시도들이 빠르게 도입되고 있다. 정부 차원의 규제적 탄소시장이 지체되고 있는 가운데, 민간차원의 자발적 탄소시장은 넷제로 경제 달성을 위한 촉매자로 부상하고 있다. 이 세션은 크게 아래와 같은 질문들에 대하여 해답을 구하고자 한다. 탄소중립을 위한 국제규범화의 현주소는 어떠하고 향후의 전망은 무엇인가? 주요 국가의 민간 부문에서 추진되고 있는 자발적 탄소시장의 특징은 무엇이고 향후의 과제는 무엇인가? 세계 주요 기업들이 탄소중립 실현을 위한 전략과 대응 방안은 무엇인가?

The world is facing a dual challenge of implementing carbon neutrality and sustaining economic growth amidst the whirlwind of climate change. Alongside the NDC targets set by the UN and individual governments, various regulations aimed at achieving carbon neutrality at the private sector level, such as RE100, are being strengthened into international norms. Attempts to activate the voluntary carbon market, although still considered auxiliary measures, are being rapidly introduced. As government-led regulatory carbon markets are delayed, voluntary carbon markets at the private sector level are emerging as catalysts for achieving a net-zero economy. This session aims to answer the following questions: What is the current status of international institutionalization for carbon neutrality and what are the future prospects? What are the characteristics and future challenges of voluntary carbon markets driven by the private sector in major countries? What are the strategies and responses of major global companies to achieve carbon neutrality?
