인도태평양 지역의 주요국들은 역내외 국가들과의 경제적 상호의존성을 기반으로 세계경제 활동을 주도해왔으며 최근 역내 주요국 간 지정·지경학적 갈등 속에서 위기를 맞이하고 있다. 전세계적인 탈글로벌화의 추세 속에서 인태지역도 상호의존성 약화의 위기에 있으며, 이에 대한 대응으로 역내 주요국들은 경제안보의 관점에서 각국의 통상정책과 산업정책의 방향을 재편하고 있다. 역내 경제활동의 활성화에 필수적인 상호의존성과 경제안보가 양립할 수 있는 방법이 있는가? 동 세션은 인태지역의 주요국들이 현재 활발하게 도입하고 있는 경제안보 정책이 역내 상호의존성과 양립할 수 있는 방안들을 논의하고자 한다.

Key countries in the Indo-Pacific region have led global economic activities due to their economic interdependence within and outside the region. Nowadays, they are faced with grave challenges amid the rising geopolitical and geo-economic tensions within the region. The trends of de-globalization are threatening to weaken regional economic interdepence, against which major countries in the region have been adopting new trade and industrial policies with economic security purposes. Are there ways to make economic interdepence and economic security compatible and co-exist within the region? This session aims to address this fundamental question in order to suggest ways to coordinate the region’s policies toward a more coherent economic security policy direction.
