생태법인 제도는 인류 최초로 제주에서 제안된 매우 창의적인 기후 위기 대응책이다. 지난해 오영훈 지사가 제도 도입을 공식 선언한 후 관련 전문가들로 워킹 그룹을 조직하여 본격적인 활동을 전개하고 있다. 처음 적용 대상이 되는 돌고래는 아시아는 물론 인도양에 두루 서식하고 있는 국제적인 해양 생물 보호종이다. 이에 제주의 생태법인 제도의 확산과 공유를 통해 아시아 태평양 연안과 인도양 지역에서의 기후 위기 공동 대응을 위한 생태평화의 연대와 협력 기반을 마련하고 이 과정에서 제주도의 평화 글로벌 리더십을 구축해 나갈 것이다.

The eco legal person is the first very creative response to the climate crisis proposed in Jeju. Since Governor Oh Young-hoon officially announced the introduction of the system last year, he has organized a working group with related experts to carry out full-fledged activities. The first dolphin to be applied is an international marine life protection species that lives not only in Asia but also in the Indian Ocean. Accordingly, through the spread and sharing of Jeju's eco legal person, we will lay the foundation for solidarity and cooperation in ecological peace to jointly respond to the climate crisis along the Asia-Pacific coast and the Indian Ocean.
