At the forum, domestic and international participants from 60 sessions dealt with various issues ranging from international cooperation & security, economy & business, culture, gender, community development, and the environment, and had wide discussions on regional and global cooperation and challenges beyond the Asia’s paradox for new Asia. And the Trilateral cooperation Secretariat participated in the forum for the first time, organizing 3 concurrent sessions, and contributed to the Jeju Forum’s goal of peace and prosperity in Korea, Japan, and China.

09:00 ~ 10:20		[3-A] Building a New Security Architecture in Northeast Asia\|동북아 신(新) 안보 체제 구축	Room A
[East Asia Foundation] Northeast Asian states have increasingly been alerted by transnational security issues such as arms proliferation, terrorism, organized crime, disease epidemics and environmental degradation. While we have seen other regions developing multilateral security cooperation system in different degrees to deal with those issues, Northeast Asia has not seen such a system yet. Meanwhile, President Park Geun-hye had proposed the ‘Seoul Process’ to overcome ‘Asian paradox’ in her speech to a joint session of the US Congress. In her speech, she envisioned building a multilateral security cooperation regime for peace and cooperation in Northeast Asia , much like the ‘Helsinki Process,’ which includes the US, Northeast Asian countries and even North Korea. This session will discuss various ideas for new regional security architecture in Northeast Asia. 대량살상무기(WMD)의 확산, 테러, 조직범죄, 전염성 질환 및 환경 악화 등 초국가적 안보위협은 동북아 국가 모두의 집단적 과제가 되고 있습니다. 다른 지역에서는 이러한 과제를 다루기 위한 다자간 안보협력체제가 다양한 정도로 발전하고 있는 가운데, 동북아 지역에서만은 다자간 안보협력체가 전무한 현실입니다. 한편, 박근혜 대통령은 미의회 상ㆍ하원 합동회의 연설에서 ‘아시아 패러독스’를 극복하기 위한 ‘서울 프로세스’를 제안한 바 있습니다. 이는 유럽의 ‘헬싱키 프로세스’와 비슷하게 미국과 동북아 국가들, 특히 북한까지도 참여하는 동북아의 평화와 협력을 위한 다자간 안보협력체 결성을 구상한 것입니다. 본 세션은 동북아 안보 협력 체제 구상에 대해 논의합니다.
