[Jeju Free International City Development Center / 제주국제자유도시개발센터] With the beginning of Jeju Free International City in 2002, Jeju has shown rapid economic growth including but not limited to the increase in GRDP, population and number of tourists. On the other hand, however, it has revealed many drawbacks such as a local conflict in designating a building site for the second Jeju airport, the invalidation of the construction permit of massive condo resorts, backflow of sewage in the Myth & History theme park, a conflict in granting license for construction of Greenland International Medical Centre and the absence of a proper training system to produce talent. The list goes on and it is imperative that the city has to reflect itself before it gets too late. This session is to examine current issues in Jeju and listen to opinions of the leaders on the matters. 제주는 2002년 국제자유도시 추진 이후 지역총생산, 인구수, 관광객수 등 급격한 경제 성장을 이루었다. 그러나 최근 제주 제2공항 부지 선정 문제, 휴양형주거 단지 사업 인허가 무효, 신화역사공원 오폐수 역류, 녹지국제병원 개설 허가 문제, 글로벌 인재 양성 전담 교육기능 부재 등 다양한 문제들에 대한 자기 성찰 및 극복방안 논의가 필요한 시점이다. 제주국제자유도시 추진 과정에서 당면한 문제점을 직시하고 미래지향적인 발전 방향에 대해 리더들의 의견을 폭넓게 수렴하고자 한다.
