[Korea National Diplomatic Academy 국립외교원] The erosion of the U.S.-led liberal economic order has brought the multilateral trading system on the brinks of collapse after having served as the pillar of the world trade order for decades. As it is longer able to rely on the multilateral trading system for continued economic growth, countries in the Asian region are expected to face increased unilateral pressure from the U.S. and other countries pursuing protectionist motives. As tensions are rising in the Asia Pacific region, and the U.S.-China trade conflict is not expected to be resolved any time soon, how should Asian countries prepare against these changes of the international economic order? This session aims to deal with these issues from the perspectives of international trade law, politics, and economy, including the desirable direction for operating the CPTPP and RCEP, which are expected to serve as the mechanism for regional economic integration in the Asian region. 과거 미국 주도의 자유주의적 경제질서의 근간이 흔 들리면서 그동안 국제무역질서의 중심축 역할을 했던 다자무역체제는 붕괴의 위협에 직면하고 있다. 그동안 아시아 지역의 경제성장을 뒷받침해온 다자무역체제 에 더 이상 의존할 수 없는 상황에서 아시아 지역 국가 들은 미국 주도의 일방주의 혹은 양자주의적 통상압 박의 심화에 직면할 것으로 예상된다. 미-중 무역갈등 과 같이 긴장감이 고조되고 있는 국제경제질서의 변 화 속에서 아시아 지역 국가들은 어떠한 대비를 해야 하며 새로운 지역경제통합의 과제를 어떻게 준비해야 하는 것인가. 본 세션은 아시아 지역경제통합의 메커 니즘 역할이 기대되는 CPTPP와 RCEP 등의 바람직한 운영 방향에 대하여 국제법·정치·경제학적 관점에서 다루고자 한다.
