[Cheju Halla University 제주한라대학교] Over the past three decades, East Asia enjoyed political stability and economic growth, with the Asian regional division of labor being well established among neighboring countries. As China’s investment-led growth has slowed, however, economic tensions have developed in Northeast Asia. On the one hand, Asia’s excessive supply as a result of overinvestment and trade friction with the U.S. appear likely to continue for the foreseeable future. On the other hand, as China attempts to ascend the value chain, its relationships with its neighboring countries such as Japan and South Korea are becoming more competitive in various industries. To promote peace and harmony in Asia, this session examines the current economic landscape in the region, and invites discussion upon how Asian countries can pursue harmonious and mutually beneficial cooperation to rebalance the economic order and to achieve common prosperity in Asia. 지난 30년 동안, 동아시아는 가치사슬 상에서 인접 국가들의 역할이 잘 정립되어 있으면서 정치적 안정과 경제적 성장을 향유해왔다. 하지만 중국의 투자주도의 성장이 둔화되면서, 동북아시아 지역에 경제적 긴장이 형성되고 있다. 한편으로는, 과잉투자로 인한 과잉공급과 대미 무역 마찰은 당분간 지속될 것으로 예측된다. 다른 한편으로는, 중국이 가치사슬 상에서 상향이동하기를 시도하면서, 중국은 일본과 한국 등 주변국과 여러 산업 영역에서 경쟁적 관계로 변화하고 있다. 아시아의 평화와 조화를 증진시키기 위해서, 본 세션은 아시아의 경제 질서를 바로잡고 공동 번영의 달성을 위하여 현 경제 상황을 살펴보고 어떻게 이 지역의 국가들이 조화롭고 서로 유익한 협력을 추구할 수 있을지 토론하는 자리를 마련하고자 한다.
