The development of sentiments of peace towards North Korea has been in full swing since the inauguration of the Moon Jae-in administration. There is a growing outlook that the circumstances of the Korean peninsula, with sanctions levied against the North for its conducting of nuclear and missile tests, will be reversed with the joint participation of the North and South in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and as dialogue channels between relevant parties, including the inter-Korean and US-North Korea Summit. Following the participation of the PyeongChang Olympics, at the same time, with the confrontational relationship between the North and South giving way to a mode of peace, this session looks at manners of mutual benefit and continuing close cooperation for states in the region with interests on the peninsula.

문재인 정부 출범 이후 대북 평화 무드 조성이 본격화 되고 있다. 2018 평창 동계 올림픽의 남북 동반 참가와 더불어 남북-북미 정상회담 등 당사국들 간 대화 채널이 가동됨에 따라, 북핵 및 미사일 실험과 연이은 대북 제재 조치 등 악재로 인해 경색되어 있던 한반도 상황이 반전될 것이라는 기대치가 커지고 있다. 평창 올림픽 이후 남북 간 적대적 관계를 평화 모드로 이어가는 동시에 한반도 정세와 연계된 역내 유관국들과의 상호 이익 공유와 긴밀한 협력을 지속할 수 있는 방안을 짚어 본다.
