동아시아는 세계에서 매우 중요한 해양 교역로를 포함한 지역이며, 이 지역의 해양 협력은 글로벌 경제와 무역에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 중요한 과제이다. 또한 동아시아 지역은 현재 해양 분쟁, 해양 환경 보호, 자원의 지속가능한 개발과 사용 등 다양한 문제를 안고 있으며, 이를 해결하기 위한 국제적 협력이 반드시 필요하다.
이러한 필요성을 바탕으로, 이번 세션에서는 해양 문제에 관한 동아시아 지역 내 각국의 갈등과 협력 사례를 역사적으로 조명하고, 이를 바탕으로 동아시아 해양 협력이 추구할 미래의 모습을 모색하고자 한다. 이는 "더 나은 세상을 위한 협력”이라는 주제 아래, 평화와 번영이 공존하는 세계를 위한 실질적인 전략을 모색하는 제주포럼 주제와 부합할 것이다.

East Asia is home to some of the world's most important maritime trade routes, and maritime cooperation in the region is a critical issue that has a direct impact on the global economy and trade. Furthermore, East Asia is currently facing a variety of challenges, including maritime disputes, marine environmental protection, and sustainable development and use of resources. International cooperation is essential to address these challenges.
Against such a background, this session will highlight the history of conflict and cooperation among East Asian countries on maritime issues and explore the future of maritime cooperation in East Asia. The session will align with the theme of the Jeju Forum, "Acting Together for a Better World," which will seek to develop practical strategies for a world where peace and prosperity coexist.
