2024년 5월말 4여 년 만에 한중일 정상회의가 대한민국에서 개최될 것이라는 기대감이 고조되면서, 3국이 새로운 평화와 공동번영의 비전을 제시할 수 있을지 세간의 관심이 높아지고 있다. 하지만 지속가능한 한중일 관계 강화를 위해서는 중앙정부만 아니라 다양한 주체간의 협력이 필요하다. 특히 지방정부간 교류와 협력의 기반을 더욱 강화해야 하며, 이를 위해서는 제반 노력을 견인할 수 있는 지방정부 지도자들의 리더십이 중요하다. 이번 세션에서는 제주, 오키나와, 하이난의 지방외교를 이끌고 있는 지도자들을 초청하여 평화와 번영을 위한 한중일 지방외교 성과와 비전을 공유하는 대화의 장을 마련하고자 한다.

The much-anticipated South Korea-China-Japan summit is expected to be held in Seoul at the end of May, raising high hopes for a renewed vision of regional peace and prosperity. However, achieving sustainable relations requires collaboration among multiple entities beyond the central government level. In particular, strengthening the foundation for exchanges and cooperation between local governments in all three countries is crucial. This session will bring together leaders of Jeju, Okinawa, and Hainan to share their achievements and visions in promoting peace and prosperity through subnational diplomacy.
