Recently, with East Asian countries failing to cooperate with each other for regional stability and integration, the tension and conflict in this region is increasing as a result of an ethnocentric view of history and a maritime territorial dispute originating from exclusive nationalism. As long as such sharp conflict and confrontation continue, it will remain difficult to maintain peace and prosperity in the East Asia region. Therefore, as one of the ways to resolve the tension and conflict between the countries in East Asia, it might be significant to teach the precious value of peace to college students who will lead their countries in the future. This session will discuss how the issue of peace in East Asia can be dealt with through college education, in which not only professors from the leading countries in East Asia but also other East Asia experts will participate. The goal of this session is to examine how peace education has been offered in major universities of East Asian countries and to suggest how peace education should be provided in order to reach a peaceful resolution of the conflict in this region and a genuine reconciliation between the countries.
