FORUM

At the forum, domestic and international participants from 60 sessions dealt with various issues ranging from international cooperation & security, economy & business, culture, gender, community development, and the environment, and had wide discussions on regional and global cooperation and challenges beyond the Asia’s paradox for new Asia. And the Trilateral cooperation Secretariat participated in the forum for the first time, organizing 3 concurrent sessions, and contributed to the Jeju Forum’s goal of peace and prosperity in Korea, Japan, and China.

Korea is one of the most admired country that has achieved political democracy and high economic development in a short span of time since the Second World War. Korea is a model for the developing countries that has shown the world that even a war-torn poor country can become an economic power house if the people try hard to do so. What are the implications and the potentials of the miraculous achievement of Korea? What are the Korea’s roles to realize the peace and prosperity in Asia? In what manner Korea has to change and develop for the future after the recent tragic Sewol passenger-boat incident? We will have time to reflect ourselves through the eyes of a renowned Korea specialist, Mr. Daniel Tudor.

한국은 제2차 세계대전 이후 정치·경제적으로 세계에서 가장 경이로운 발전을 이룬 나라입니다. 한국전쟁의 폐허 위에서 한국은 정치적으로는 민주주의를 달성하였고, 경제적으로는 세계 상위에 속하는 경제력을 가진 모범국가가 되었습니다. 한국의 이러한 경이적인 발전에 내재된 잠재력은 무엇이며, 아시아의 평화와 번영을 위해 어떤 역할을 해야 하는지, 또 최근 세월호 참사를 겪은 후 한국은 앞으로 어떻게 변화· 발전되어야 할 지 등에 관해 한국에 애정을 지닌 외국인 전문가의 눈을 통해 스스로 성찰해 보는 기회를 갖습니다.
