Umeno Masanobu, vice president of Joetsu University of Education in Japan, majored in education. With experience earned in the history education field, he studies historical exchanges between Korea and Japan and problems in historical perception of the East Asian region. He is interested in historical reconciliation based on history education for the future generations of East Asia as well as Korea, China and Japan, and is building networks through active exchanges with researchers in the region. Since 2016, he also has been serving as the Chairman of the Research Cooperators’ Council for School Human Rights Education under the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. He authored History of the Establishment of History Textbooks in Social Studies (2004) and Korea and Japan Jointly Think about History Education (2017).

일본의 국립 죠에쓰 교육대학 부학장인 우메노 마사노부 교수는 교육학 전공자이다. 역사교육 현장의 경험을 가지고서 한국과 일본의 역사 교류와 동아시아 지역 역사인식의 문제 등에 대해 연구하고 있다. 한중일 외에 동아시아 지역의 미래세대에 대한 역사교육을 통한 역사화해에 대해 관심을 갖고 이 지역의 연구자들과 활발한 교류를 통해 네트워크를 구축하고 있다. 또한 2016년부터 일본 문부과학성의 ‘학교 인권교육 조사협력자 회의’ 좌장을 역임하고 있다. 주요 저서로는 <社會科歷史敎科書成立史>(2004), <日韓で考える歴史教育>（2017）등이 있다.
