Tong Zhao is a Fellow at the Nuclear Policy Program of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, based at the Carnegie–Tsinghua Center for Global Policy in Beijing. His research focuses on strategic security issues, including nuclear arms control, nonproliferation, missile defense, space security, strategic stability, and China’s security and foreign policy.
He was previously a Stanton Nuclear Security Fellow with the Managing the Atom Project and the International Security Program at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University. He has held a number of other positions, including as a nonresident WSD-Handa Fellow at Pacific Forum CSIS and working for the Office of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality. He holds a PhD in science, technology, and international affairs from Georgia Institute of Technology, and received a B.S. in physics and an M.A. in international relations from Tsinghua University. He is an associate editor of the journal Science & Global Security and a member of the Asia Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation & Disarmament.
<BR><BR>자오 통 연구원은 중국 베이징 소재의 카네기-칭화 글로벌정책연구소에 기반을 둔 카네기 국제 평화 기금의 핵 정책 프로그램의 연구원이다. 연구 분야는 전략적 안보이며, 핵 군비 통제, 비핵화, 미사일 방어, 우주 안보, 전략적 안정성, 그리고 중국의 안보∙외교 전략을 포괄한다.

자오 통 연구원은 하버드 대학교의 벨퍼 국제 과학 문제 연구소의 국제 안보 프로그램과 원자 관리 프로젝트의 연구원을 역임하였으며, 다른 여러 직책들을 맡았다. CSIS 태평양 포럼의 WSD-한다 연구원과, 베이징 시당국의 외교 사무국에서 근무하고 있다. 조지아공과대학교에서 과학, 기술, 그리고 국제관계에서 박사학위를 받았고, 물리에서 학사학위를 취득했으며 칭화대학교에서 국제관계로 석사학위를 받았다. 또한Science & Global Security 저널의 부편집장이며, APLN (아태 핵 비확산 군축 리더십 네트워크)의 회원이다.
