Dr. Sanae Ito obtained her Ph.D. from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex in 1999. She has over 30 years’ experience in development research and administration. Her major country expertise lies in Bangladesh where she worked at the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (1988-90) and with the Grameen Bank (1994-96). In 2001, she joined the Graduate School of International Development at Nagoya University in Japan. Apart from research and teaching of development studies at the graduate school, she has taken on short-term assignments outside the university for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and the Japan Export and Trade Organisation (JETRO). In 2006-2009, she served as external collaborator for the International Labour Organisation’s research work on “Promoting Decent Work in Global Production Systems (GPS) in Asia and the Pacific Region”, facilitating and managing member countries’ research activities. In 2014-2017, she served as the dean of the Graduate School of International Development at Nagoya University. Her current research interests include: i) development cooperation policies in Asia; ii) the shifting paradigm of development; and iii) financial inclusion in South Asia.
<BR><BR>사나에 이토교수는 1999년 영국의 서섹스대학 Institute of Development Studies에서 박사학위를 받았다. 이토교수는 지난 30년간 개발학 연구 및 행정분야에서 경험을 쌓았으며, 특히 방글라데시의 지역개발 연구소(1988-1990)와 그라민뱅크(1994-1996) 등에서 지역전문가로 일했다. 이후 2001년 나고야 대학의 개발학대학원 교수로 임용되었으며, 대학원 강의 및 연구와 함께, 다수의 JICA, JBIC, MOFA, JETRO 등 일본 국제개발협력 전담 정부기구들의 연구 프로젝트 참여해 왔다. 2006~2009년에는 ILO의 “아시아▪태평양지역 글로벌생산시트템에서의 근엄한 일자리창출” 프로젝트의 외부전문가로 참여하여 회원국들에 연구에 참여를 촉진하는 역할을 하였다. 2014~2017년 현재, 이토교수는 나고야대학 개발학대학원의 학장을 엮임하고 있으며, 연구분야로는 아시아지역의 개발협력정책, 개발패러다임의 전환, 남아시아의 개발재원 문제등이다.
