Professor Heekyung PARK obtained his Ph.D. degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1990, and was a member of technical staff and technical supervisor at Montgomery-Watson-Harza until he joined the faculty of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 1995. At KAIST, he was a Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Dean of Strategic Planning and Budget, and Chief Finance Officer. He was also a Vice-President for Korean Society of Water and Wastewater, and Korean Society of Environmental Engineers. In March 2017, he became the Vice-President for Research at KAIST. He has published over 300 journal and conference papers and 14 patents in the areas of environmental and disaster management. He also received varying awards for excellence in research and education.
<BR><BR>박희경(朴熙敬) 재난학연구소 소장 (한국과학기술원 연구부총장 겸임)은 교육자이자, 재난안전환경분야 전문가이고, 교육행정가이다. 박소장은 서울대학교 토목공학과에서 석사 학위를 취득하고 문교부 국비 장학생의 신분으로 유학길에 올라 미국 일리노이주립대 (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) 토목환경공학과에서 박사학위를 받았다. 현대건설 토목기사, 미국 Harza 공학연구소 선임환경기사를 거쳐 1995년 한국과학기술원 건설 및 환경공학과 교수로 부임했고 연구와 교육에 매진하여 총300여편 넘는 논문들을 국내외에 발간하였다. 이후 건설환경공학과 학과장, KAIST 기획처장, KAIST 교수 평의회 의원을 역임했고 현재 연구부총장을 역임 중이다. 또한 대한상하수도학회 부회장, 대한환경공학회 부회장, 한국 물포럼 물산업위원회 위원장 등을 거치며 국토부, 환경부, 안전처, 한국수자원공사 등의 자문위원을 역임하였다.
