숙명여자대학교 Professor 교수
고려대학교 정치외교학과를 졸업한 후 미국 사우스 캐롤라이나 대학교 국제정치학 석사 및 박사 학위를 마치고 현재 숙명여자대학교 정치외교학과 교수로 재직 중임. 주요경력으로 제 17대 대통령직 인수위원회(국방, 외교통일 분과) 국방담당 상임자문위원, 국방부 국방개혁실장, 민주평통 상임위 외교안보분과위원장, 숙명여자대학교 사회과학대학장 등을 역임하고 현재 국제정책연구원(IPSI-KOR) 원장, 국가보안학회 회장, 아태안보협력이사회(CSCAP) 한국대표, DCAF 동아시아 SSG 포럼 한국대표로 활동하고 있으며 국방부, 합참, 공군, 외교부 정책자문위원으로서 한국 외교안보 정책에 최고 전문가로서 국가와 군을 위해 많은 노력을 하고 있음.
주요저서로는 대외정책론, 북한외교정책, 한국외교정책론, ASIA-PACIFIC ALIANCES IN THE 21ST CENTURY, 동아시아의 전쟁과 평화, 북핵에 대응한 국방개혁, 대전환의 파도 한국의 선택 등이 있으며 최근 논문으로 “미북 협상 어디로” 초연결사회 보안환경 변화에 따른 취약요인 및 대응방안”, “South Korea’s Future Strategies for Better Peace Operations”, 2030” , “한국의 국방개혁 과제” 등이 있음 또한 방송기고 등을 통해 공공외교 차원에서 활발한 활동을 하고 있음. "Kyu-Dok Hong is professor in the Department of Political Science and International at Sookmyung Women’s University where he has taught international relations and ROK’s national security strategy since 1993. . After graduating from Korea University in 1980, he served for Brigadier General Robert W. Pointer, Jr at the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command for two years to complete obligatory military services. With the stewardship of Ambassador Richard L. Walker, then Ambassador to ROK, he went to South Carolina for continuing his graduate studies and received his Masters and Doctoral degrees in international relations from the University of South Carolina in 1991. After returning home, He became the professor at the Sookmyung Women’s University in 1993 and has spent 28 years as educator and administrator until today. Dr. Hong became the first civilian deputy minister for defense reform during the Lee Myung-bak Government (2009-2013) and has advised various government officials and services in the military since then. He is still active to lead the academic community as the President of the International Policy Studies Institute of Korea (IPSI-KOR), the President of the Korean Academic Association of Homeland Security (KAAHS), the Chairperson of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific-Korea (CSCAP-Korea). Recently, he spent his efforts to build security sector governance (SSG)network with regional partners as regional associate of the Geneva-based think tank DCAF in East Asia. Professor Hong visited EU and France as a member of President Yoon’s special envoy to EU from June 5-11, 2020. As an advisor to ROK-US Alliance Foundation, he strongly commits himself to the education of next generation for continuing the proud spirit of alliance for peace, prosperity and security and for maximizing the alliance interests." |
