남종영은 2001년부터 한겨레신문사에서 환경 기자로 일하고 있다. 기후변화로 북극, 적도, 남극에서 고통받는 사람과 동물을 그린 '지구 종단 3부작'과 서울대공원 남방큰돌고래 '제돌이'를 고향 바다로 돌려보낸 계기가 된 기사가 인생 최고의 보람이었다. 영국 브리스틀대학교에서 인간-동물 관계를 공부했고, 인간의 동물 통치 체제, 생명 정치에 관심이 많다. <잘 있어, 생선은 고마웠어: 남방큰돌고래 제돌이 야생방사 프로젝트> <고래의 노래> <북극곰은 걷고 싶다> 등을 썼다.

Jongyoung Nam has been working as an environmental correspondent at the Hankyoreh newspaper since 2001. The most rewarding of his life were the 'Across the Earth Trilogy', which depicts people and animals suffering in the Arctic, the Pacific islands, and the Antarctic due to climate change, and the investigative story that led to the return of 'Jedol', an Indo-pacific Bottlenose dolphin from Seoul Grand Park, back to wild ocean. He studied animal geograpy at the University of Bristol, UK, and is interested in human animal governance and biopolitics. He wrote 'Thanks for All the Fish: the Rewilding Project of Indo-pacific Bottlenose Dolohin Jedol' 'The Song of the Whale' 'The Polar Bear Wants to Walk'.
