황준서는 성공회대학교에서 사회학을 공부하면서 평화운동과 환경운동에 참여해왔다. 이 경험을 바탕으로 영국 브래드퍼드대학교에서 평화학 석사를 마친 후에는 한국국제교류재단의 지원으로 1년 동안 스톡홀름국제평화연구소(SIPRI)에서 지속가능한 평화구축과 조직범죄 대응 관련 연구를 수행했다. 현재 북아일랜드 퀸즈벨파스트대학교에서 지속가능한 평화 구축을 위한 정치적·사회적·생태적 전환을 주제로 박사논문을 쓰고 있다. 주요 연구 분야는 환경협력을 통한 평화구축, 녹색범죄학, 생태정의, 사법 및 안보개혁(JSSR)이며, 초국경 환경협력과 평화구축, 조직범죄와 치안, 국제 환경범죄 대응 협력 관련 논문을 출판하였다.

Juneseo Hwang studied sociology at Sungkonghoe University while being active in environmental and peace movements. His experience as campaigner led to studying peace studies at University of Bradford, England. After his study, he received funding from the Korea Foundation to do one-year research internship at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, where he conducted research on sustainable peacebuilding and tackling organized crime. Currently, he is a PhD student at Queen’s University Belfast, writing a thesis on triple—political, social, and ecological—transformation towards sustainable peace. His research areas are environmental peacebuilding, sustainable peace, green criminology, ecological justice, and justice and security sector reform. He has published journal articles on transboundary conservation and environmental peacebuilding, organized crime and policing, and international criminal justice cooperation.
