Lee는 1963년 한국 출생, 2003년 이후 명지대학교 교수로 일하고 있다. 도시 분석과 설계에 관련된 연구를 지속하고 있다. 도시 관련 연구에서 Lee가 특히 강조하는 것은 도시의 기능이다. 도시는 사람이 모여 사는 곳이라는 전통적인 견해와 다르게 도시가 국가적 혹은 글로발한 지역적 경제 성장을 위한 도구로 사용될 수 있다는 견해를 제시한다. 다 수의 논문을 통하여 경제적 동력으로서의 도시의 가능성을 입증했다. 연구 성과로 한국의 유수한 학회인 대한건축학회와 국토연구원으로부터 논문상을 수상했다. 최근에는 두만강 하구에 다국적 신도시를 개발하여 동북아시아의 경제 허브를 구축하는 방안에 대해 연구를 집중하고 있다.

Lee was born in Korea in 1963 and has been working as a professor at Myongji University since 2003. His major research area is about urban analysis and design. What Lee especially emphasizes in urban-related research is the function of the city. Contrary to the traditional view that a city is a place where people live together, it presents the view that it can be used as a tool for national or global regional economic growth. Through a number of papers, the possibility of cities as economic engines has been proved. For his research, he was awarded the thesis award by the Korea Institute of Architecture and Korean Research Institute for Human Settlements, leading academic society in Korea. Recently, research has been focused on how to build an economic hub in Northeast Asia by developing a multinational city at the mouth of the Tumen River.
