Dr. Taehwan Kim is Associate Professor of Public Diplomacy of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy(KNDA), the ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Before joining KNDA in 2013, he had served as Director of Public Diplomacy at the Korea Foundation since 2008. He also taught as Research Professor at the Division of International Education of Yonsei University during 2002 and 2008. He is a book review editor for the quarterly Global Asia published by the East Asia Foundation. Dr. Kim graduated from Yonsei University (B.A. and M.A. in Political Science) and received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University. His research focus is on comparative political economy of post-socialist transformation and Korea’s public diplomacy. His recent works include “Beyond Geopolitics: South Korea’s Eurasia Initiative as a New Nordpolitik”; “Paradigm Shift in Diplomacy: A Conceptual Model for Korea’s New Public Diplomacy”; “Can Putin Go Beyond Putinism, Or Will It Be More of the Same?”; and “Impassive to Imperial?: Russia in Northeast Asia from Yeltsin to Putin”.

김태환 박사는 2013년부터 국립외교원 교수를 역임하고 있다. 2008년부터 2013년까지 한국국제교류재단에서 공공외교사업부장을 맡았으며, 2001년부터2008년까지 연세대학교 국제교육부에서 연구교수로 부임했다. 동아시아재단이 발행하는 계간지 Global Asia 서평 편집인이다. 연세대학교 정치학과 학사과정과 석사과정을 거쳐 컬럼비아대학교에서 정치학 박사학위를 받았다. 주요 연구 분야는 사회주의적 개조 후의 비교 정치경제학 및 한국의 공공외교다. 최근 출판물로 지정학을 넘어: 새로운 북방정책으로서의 한국의 유라시아 이니셔티브 (Beyond Geopolitics: South Korea’s Eurasia Initiative as a New Nordpolitik ), 외교 패러다임 변화: 한국의 새로운 공공외교 개념 적 모델 (Paradigm Shift in Diplomacy: A Conceptual Model for Korea’s New Public Diplomacy), 푸틴은 푸티니즘을 넘을 것인가?
