2015년부터 현재까지 한국지능정보사회진흥원에 재직 중이다. 2019년부터 현재까지 한국지능정보사회진흥원 AI-미래전략센터를 총괄 담당하고 있다. AI-미래전략센터에서는 중장기 ICT 국가전략 수립 지원, AI와 같은 신기술 기반의 정부혁신 및 공공서비스 전략을 연구·개발하는 업무를 총괄하고 있다. 2014년부터 2015년까지는 정부 3.0 기획팀장으로 정부혁신 과제를 발굴하고 평가하는 업무를 총괄하였다. 2002년부터 2005까지 삼성SDI 경영관리팀에서 근무했으며 경영기획 및 전략 수립 업무를 담당하였다. 2015년부터 2016년까지 애리조나 주립대 행정학과에서 방문연구원으로 활동하면서 ICT를 기반으로 한 사회 현안 해결 등의 연구를 진행하였다. 2011년부터 2012년에는 캘리포니아주립대 버클리 BRIE 연구실에서 파견연구원으로 활동했으며 클라우드 플랫폼 경쟁력 강화 방안 등을 연구하였다. 고려대학교에서 MIS 석사 학위를 받았고 성균관대학교에서 경영학 학사 학위를 받았다.

Insu Baek is the Research Director at the AI-Future Strategy Center, National Information Society Agency (NIA) in South Korea. Baek is charged with the creation, refinement, and evaluation of mid- and long-term master plans for ICT development in the country, building ICT policies and strategies for the South Korean government. He also develops and implements ICT projects for the government, partnering with diverse government agencies at the national level to innovate public services by adopting cutting-edge technologies in the public sector. Before joining NIA in 2005, Baek served as Manager of Planning in the Department of Management at Samsung SDI Co. for three years. He was a visiting researcher at Arizona State University from 2015-16 and at the University of California−Berkley from 2011-12. Baek earned his BA in Business Administration from Sungkyunkwan University and a Master’s Degree in Management Engineering from Korea University in South Korea
