김동호는 지난 35년간 장애인단체, 장애인복지서비스기관, 정부, 국제기구에서 활동가와 전문가로서 다양한 활동과 경험을 쌓아 왔다. 그는 장애청년 동료들과 함께 ‘울림터’라는 민간단체를 설립하여 한국의 장애청년운동을 이끌었고, 이후 한국장애인단체총연합회 사무총장을 역임하고, 현재는 한국장애인단체총연맹 정책위원장으로 활동하고 있다. 그는 장애인복지관인 ‘정립회관’에서 기획팀장과 사무국장으로 일하였는데, 이 시기에 그는 ‘자립생활모델’을 한국에 소개하여 장애인서비스모델의 새 장을 여는 데 기여하였다. 그는 보건복지부의 재활지원과장과 장애인권익지원과장으로 봉직하며, 장애인차별금지법 시행, 중증장애인활동보조서비스 도입, 장애아동재활치료서비스 도입, 장애인생활시설 소규모화 추진 등의 업적을 쌓았다. 그는 UN 아시아태평양경제사회위원회(ESCAP) 사회개발국에서 사회문제전문관(P4)으로서 아태장애인10년 인천전략 프로젝트를 담당하였다. 김동호는 건국대학교에서 역사학으로 학사학위를, 연세대학교에서 사회복지 전공으로 행정학 석사학위를 취득하였다.

He served as the director of the Rehabilitation Support Division and the Rights Promotion Division for persons with disabilities in the Ministry of Health and Welfare. He led the Project of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities and the Incheon Strategy as a social affairs officer (P4) in the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. He is currently serving as the chairman of the policy committee of the Korea Differently Abled Federation. Mr. KIM received his BA in History from Konkuk University and his MA in Public Administration from Yonsei University, focusing on Social Welfare."
